Abstract

Pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PEX) is an age-related systemic disorder characterized by the accumulation of abnormal fibrillar extracellular material in ocular tissues and various organs of the body. In ophthalmology, pseudoexfoliation syndrome is considered one of the major risk factors for the development and progression of secondary open-angle glaucoma. Structural alterations associated with PEX contribute to impaired aqueous humor outflow, increased intraocular pressure, and progressive optic nerve damage
